"My 93 year old mother suffers from dementia, severe sight and hearing loss and lives in a residential care home. During the lockdown we were initially unable to access help with her hearing appliance which had broken. Fortunately we were put in contact with Hummingbird who were very helpful. Sam, the audiologist came out to my mother's care home on several occasions to assess then fit new appliances and train the care staff in the (minimal) maintenance. He talked about the options with me and tried to find the most cost effective way forward for mum. There was no hard sell!

Hummingbird Hearingcare recently tested my hearing and confirmed my suspicions that I was in need of hearing aids. As we all know the male gender interprets things very differently - taking my hearing as an example. The TV was never loud, everyone mumbles and my hearing was perfect. No need to see anyone I'm young (ish) and the people around me need to speak up and stop whispering....

"It is some six months since I purchased my new Oticon OPN S hearing aids from your company and I have to say that I have been very happy with the results. They are a vast improvement over the last generation from a different manufacturer, that were then classed as top of the range technology some 6 years ago. I am able to hear sharp sounds like the high pitch reverberations of the chimes on our grandfather clock that last several seconds after chiming and many other sounds such as birdsong, the garden water feature splashing, keys in locks and gravel underfoot.

After my hearing aids were fitted on Thursday 10th March (which I was very anxious about) I wasn't expecting to get used to them immediately, BUT that is exactly what happened. Within a few hours, the sound stopped being tinny and I kept having to feel, to make sure that they were still there. At one point, I thought I had lost one. That's how comfortable they are. Today, I was on my drive and started talking to my neighbour across the road.

My experience of having a hearing test with Sam Owen was a very positive one. The appointments were kept punctually. Covid restrictions were dealt with appropriately despite the smallness of the room. Mr Owen explained technical things very clearly and was both friendly and respectful. I felt as though I was being dealt with professionally. He was able to answer all my questions and gave me clear information about the degree of hearing loss and the cost of various aids. When I had an hearing issue after an accident which left my hearing impaired I had a protracted and inadequate response by the NHS so I decided I would not wait another 8-12 weeks for the NHS so I Googled local audiologists. I did not want to use a large company like Specsavers due to a poor experience with opticians so I contacted Hummingbird and was seen within a couple of days and had state of the art hearing aids the following week!! Brilliant Service.

We were advised via our insurers to use Humingbird due to loosing the hearing aid while on holiday. Until then I had not heard of them, I wish I was introduced to them sooner. I found the initial appointment with Sam very informative as he explained exactly how my hearing was affected and how hearing aids would work to improve it. The hearing aids he recommended have been marvellous and have made a great difference. The experience of having my hearing tested at BBR Oswestry was a good one. At the time Covid restrictions were in force and these were followed. I was seen promptly and Sam asked questions about my hearing in a careful and respectful way. He explained how he would go about testing and checked with me that I understood and was happy to go ahead. He then explained the results clearly. He went on to outline the hearing aids available and the costs. At no time did he pressure me to buy, instead advised me of what was available.

After years of living with a loss of hearing my dad and us as a family became used to this being the norm. After a recent stroke dad was left very nervous and had a dramatic loss in both cognitive and visual capability. This with his lack of hearing made communication very challenging.
